WFSB TV - Eyewitness News Schools Enhancing Safety Via Technology Some Campuses Use Motion Detection Cameras January 12, 2007 WETHERSFIELD, CT -- Some Connecticut schools are using technology to keep their students save. Many parents, like Pat Dobos, think about school security every day. "I know they tried to improve things here at Wethersfield High School with cameras in doorways, but I think still more could be done," she said. School administrators said they are changing the way they protect students to keep up with the times. Educators from around the state met in Berlin on Friday to learn about new options. Channel 3 Eyewitness News reporter Teresa LaBarbera reported Wethersfield High School now has motion detector cameras throughout the school. "We have a plan, we're anticipating things, and hopefully, it's going to work out for the best," Wetherfield High School Principal Tom Moore said. As a result of the recent passage of legislation, the state will provide schools with $15 million to upgrade security systems. Copyright 2007 by WFSB.com. All rights reserved. |
